Up-and-Coming Artist: Zac Shober

Zac Shober

A few words from Zac:

I started playing music when I was 10 years old. I started with drums, then guitar and a few other instruments, with guitar being my main instrument. I started singing at 14 and writing songs at 15. My first band was with a group of friends. We were a post rock instrumental band called, Samaria and we were together for two years playing local bay area shows. My second band, Relentless Pursuit, was together for 6 months and we traveled across country. I’ve written about 50 songs in the last two years and have played my originals locally in the East Bay area. The genres I like are indie, folk, rock, reggae, rap, and blues. Just about everything! My early influences are John Mayer, Copeland, Def Cab for Cutie, Bob Marley & Bon Iver. I am currently listening to Tiger’s Jaw, This Wild Life, Ray LaMontagne, Purity Ring and Matt Corby.

The two songs I am featuring are ‘Show Me Love’ and ‘Life and Journey’. I wrote ‘Show Me Love’ in 2013, inspired by wanting to know what Real Love looks like. I wrote ‘Life and Journey’, also in 2013, which is about living day to day life.

Look out East Bay, here comes Forever For A Second!

Forever For A Second (commonly abbreviated as FFAS) is an American alternative rock band based out of the East Bay Area. Originally formed by Lenny Costa, and Tony Wilson in 2008 the acoustic duo spent most of their time playing music for family and friends. After much deliberation the two left behind the acoustic scene, Tony Wilson took his leave and after multiple line up changes the current four piece was born. Lenny Costa(Vocals/Guitar), Ty Garcia(Vocals/Guitar), Lucas Garcia(drummer), and Alex Wechter(Bass) made their official Facebook debut today as the new and improved Forever For A Second.

Following the success of recent singles “Michael Jordan” and “Incredible,” as well as his “Bang” EP on Fool’s Gold, “Bricks” marks the first of a slew of new music.  With “Bricks” combining his EDM and hip-hop influences more seamlessly than ever before, fans can expect a number of genres to be experimented with on upcoming releases.  In the words of Carnage, “I do what I want and the world has to deal with it.  Game on.”

2014 is already shaping up to be a big year for the DJ and producer, who in March, sold out NYC’s Terminal 5 in less than 6 minutes, and has major festival performances scheduled globally throughout the summer.  He’s working on his first proper full-length, which is expected out later this year.

REWARD Releasing 'Painted Desperation' EP on June 24

You can stream the track "Bob" below.

REWARD vocalist and senior member (ringing in at only 20 years old) Rob Blackwell says about the track, "On the surface, it’s really just about my cousin who has down syndrome. I have never once seen him upset or unhappy for more than maybe three seconds at a time. He wakes up and is simply excited to live and be alive. He thoroughly enjoys every moment and that is amazing and inspiring to me. So in this song I wanted to honor his mind and express my mourning for his window of opportunity, but to juxtapose it with how much I love and admire him for cherishing every day and every moment."

The Neighbourhood debut new track "jealou$y"

The Neighbourhood’s new project #000000 & #FFFFFF will be out later this year. Vocalist Jesse Rutherford says about the album, “"#000000 & #FFFFFF is a diary of songs that are inspired by our thoughts while on the road. It exposes our anxiety, rejoices in our achievement and expresses our ability to create whatever the fuck we want. It’s our freedom to explore popular music as we know it. It’s not us as a band… it’s us as a sound."
