Show in Review: Meghan Trainor Brings All That Bass & More To a Sold-Out Greek Theatre

The Untouchable Tour featuring Meghan Trainor & Hailee Steinfeld at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on July 22nd, 2016

Billboard chart-topper and mega pop sensation Meghan Trainor brought her Untouchable tour to the Greek Theatre on July 22, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. This was the fifth stop along the tour, which will span across North America throughout the summer. Trainor brought along pop singer/songwriter Hailee Steinfeld and Orange County natives Common Kings to help open the tour.

The night got off to a rocky start, as the Greek Theatre experienced a small power outage just after the gates opened. The show was pushed back about a half hour due to the outage, but that didn’t stop Trainor and her crew from putting on one incredible spectacle of a show.

The show finally kicked off at 8:15pm with Hailee Steinfeld. Steinfeld and Trainor share quite a bond, so it was only fitting Steinfeld open for her. Steinfeld definitely catered to many of the younger generation fans, primarily those who recognized her for her role as Emily Junk, a new addition to The Bellas in the comedy flick Pitch Perfect 2. Seinfeld’s setlist included a few of her hits off her release Haiz such as “Love Myself,” “Rock Bottom,” “Hell Nos and Headphones,” and even some well-recognized covers including Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself,” and of course, Jessie J’s “Flashlight.”

Meghan Trainor kicked off her set at 9:05pm with “Woman Up,” a female power anthem off her latest release, Thank You. Clad in vibrant colors and eye-catching jewels, Trainor and her crew strutted their stuff as they made their way to center stage for “Watch Me Do” and “Me Too,” which featured visuals from the official music video on the background screens framing Trainor. Trainor definitely delivered with a packed 23-song setlist, consisting of jams off both Title and Thank You. Despite the outage prior to the opening set, Trainor’s set met the hour and a half duration as planned.

She kept the party going with “Dance Like Yo’ Daddy,” in which she brought up her father, Gary Trainor as a special guest. The performance had the crowd on their feet the entire time, and it was abundantly clear Trainor was having the time of her life as well.

Eventually, she slowed things down with “Like I’m Gonna Lose You.” While John Legend was not present for the performance, Trainor still managed to delight and surprise fans by bringing out special guest and television host, James Corden. Corden filled in for Legend’s verse and finished out the song with Trainor before a quick hug goodbye. Trainer even took to Twitter the following to day to express her appreciation for Corden’s appearance.

Trainor took the time to express her gratuity for her fans, with visuals of backstage footage from her meet and greets on previous tours during “Friends.” She even brought up a few special fans towards the end of the show to show just how much her fanbase means to her, just before her confetti-filled encore of “NO.”

Trainor’s Untouchable tour will continue on through September 24th, 2016, ending in Boston, Massachusetts. Tickets can be purchased via Trainor’s website at Trainor’s latest album, Thank You, is also available now via Amazon, iTunes, and Google Play.
